In this project, I did a rescoring of two chapters form the film The Animatrix (2003). This was done by removing all the music from these sections of the film and then composing my own original ideas for the score. You can watch along with the film in this playlist on Youtube here:

Here on Bandcamp, is the the original soundtrack I composed and recorded for the two chapters from The Animatrix, Program and World Record. The music has been altered by removing the pauses that are necessary during a film setting, as well as some connective musical material to make this 'music-only' version cohesive.

Program takes place in a simulated feudal Japan, as such I drew on both traditional and synthetic elements, to help guide the story in a musical language that fits its world.

In World Record, we follow the sprinter Dan Davis as he battles through injury to eventually, and accidentally, break through the facade of the Matrix. Here I went for a more urban electronic sound, with a good deal of confidence. Drawing on genres such as synthwave, drum & bass, and triphop.
